It’s a brand that unites the collective of melanated women and girls globally. From Black Americans, Africans, Afro-Latinas, and Afro-Indians to women and girls of all hues spanning the world, HUESKINBis about bringing beauty, lifestyle, and self-care to many of the most marginalized communities of melanated women and girls. We are paving a new future for women and girls who have gone unseen and underserved in representation on a global scale. It’s about creating an entirely new path as we defy the traditions of mainstream society.
As someone who is a visionary and has long desired to see the diversity of melanated communities of women and girls represented, I began to reflect on my own childhood. In hindsight, I noticed the lack of representation reflected back to me—whether in toys, television, or other media. As I’ve grown older, I see this gap in the lifestyle, beauty, and self-care industries. Though companies have made efforts to improve representation through diversification, something that has always troubled me is the lack of ownership by women of color, who are the biggest consumers of products in these industries. There is a significant disconnect and lack of ownership of brands that profit the most from our spending while leaving us out of the collective ownership space and the profits. It’s also impossible to ignore the lack of opportunities offered to melanated women.
At HUESKINB, we are committed to going beyond being just another business that pushes products and constantly releases new items to encourage overconsumption. Our sense of value and the way we are moving forward in the world is bringing a new kind of value—one we have yet to see and experience. We aren’t looking to be just another brand; we are a movement. We are creating a full-circle industry that will fundamentally change the way we not only conduct business in the beauty and lifestyle industries but also how women are employed, empowered, and provided with opportunities. This will support both business growth and community development.
Through connection, creativity, value, and alignment with a new narrative, we want to be the brand that empowers women at the soul level. Through our products, we aim to support women in their experiences of growth while encouraging them to prioritize self-care and embrace their personal power.
Beyond the brand, we aim to create connections with women and girls globally. We are taking control of our image and changing the trajectory of our future. Our goal is to create an entirely new blueprint—a new way of life that extends to how we perform and conduct business, down to the inner workings of how we create systems, rules, and dynamics between businesses, employees, and practices.
HUESKINB is going beyond just aesthetics and social media positioning—though these are great tools. We aim to go deeper as a community and as a brand to change the trajectory of the future for women and girls globally.
